Get to Know Greg!

Servant Leadership Makes All The Difference with Greg HeadleeGreg has achieved success through hiring and training the best people, developing business processes, partnering with others for win-win solutions, and pioneering efforts utilizing innovative technology.

Educational and Training Background

Greg graduated from Brigham Young University with his Bachelors of Science in Accounting and Master of Accountancy. He continued his studies while working and successfully passed the CPA exam. After years of experience, he obtained his Certification in Risk Management Assurance.

Career Experience

He started his career in Phoenix as a staff accountant for a public accounting firm Deloitte & Touche. He advanced in his career by moving to Tucson and Las Vegas where he eventually was promoted to senior manager. After over 10 years with the firm, he turned in his 10-key and pocket protector for a change of scenery.

The next step in his progression was that of internal audit at a publicly-traded company in Las Vegas. It was there that he turned around the internal audit department from a necessary evil to a trusted business advisor and well-oiled machine.

After 16 plus years as an auditor, he made a bold move to make a go of it on his own as a business consultant. He has a belief that every business owner started with a vision and a passion for “something.” He is a financial specialist that can help empower others to spend time on what’s most important to them.

How I Met Greg

I had the privilege of attending a leadership training class with him and we worked very closely together during the class. It was evident that he is a strong leader and is very admired. Our guest today is Greg Headlee. Greg, welcome to the Leadership Done Right Podcast.

Servant Leadership Discussion

Greg’s main focus through his career and leadership has been on servant leadership. Servant leadership has helped him connect with a variety of people with which he wouldn’t have otherwise connected.

He explained that servant leaders serve others with a focus on the best interests of those they serve. The neat thing about servant leadership is that often you benefit more than those you serve.

Greg introduced the concept of psychic income. Psychic income is a concept that you earn income as you interact with others. People earn the most psychic income through service to others. Everyone’s goal should be to increase your psychic income.

The Speed Round

  1. Who is the one leader you look up to most and why? My grandfather because he taught me the value of hard work!
  2. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? God gave you two ears and one mouth for a reason. You need listen twice as much as you talk.
  3. What’s a personal habit that contributes to your success? Early to bed, early to rise.
  4. If you could recommend one book to our listeners, what would it be and why? What Your CPA Isn’t Telling You: Life-Changing Tax Strategies by Mark Kohler
  5. On a light-hearted note, what is your favorite hobby? Golf, because I love being outdoors and hitting the long ball!

One Final Question

If you could go back in time and give yourself advice when you first started your leadership journey, what would it be and why?

Help other people. If you help other people be successful, you will be successful yourself. Don’t worry about salary, don’t worry about the promotion, don’t worry about yourself. Just help others, work hard, and you will in turn be successful if you do those things.
