Entrepreneurship to Leadership

From age 21 on, Kevin has always started and run companies. “When I think back on my early failures, it’s been either because I didn’t know how to use time to be productive, or because I didn’t know how to lead people. I didn’t understand the importance of leadership.”

“Leadership is really THE most important variable to having a successful life, whether you’re in business or not. When I sold the last company, I decided that while I am taking some time away from being an entrepreneur, let me just explore, think harder, and share what I have learned about leadership and productivity. It’s been kind of a one decade pause to reflect on what’s worked for me and what hasn’t.” [Read more…] about Podcast Episode #34 — Feedback — The Most Powerful Keys to Success with Kevin Kruse

Leadership Through Influence and Persuasion

Leadership is not a one and done situation. “When I first started in leadership I assumed that you tell people what to do and they just do it. That sounds nice, but real leadership is not a position. Real leadership is influence and persuasion. People are going to get off track. That’s the reality of it. A true leader can take people that are off track and guide them back on track through influence and persuasion.”

In the simplest form, if you say to someone, “I want you to put that box into that corner.” When you say, “that box” they could think it’s the box on the left or the box on the right. Also, when you say, “that corner,” they could think it’s the corner on the right or the left. You can’t automatically think that people are going to view things from your own perspective. They may have a totally different world view than you.

Think of all the complexity with a task more complicated than “take this box and put it over there”. There are so many ways that people can decipher, so you have to put all that into consideration. Lead others through influence and persuasion so they can go down the right path. [Read more…] about Podcast Episode #24 — Leadership Through Influence and Persuasion with Jeremy Jones

Podcast Episode #6 — How to Develop Confidence and Influence

Hello and welcome to the Leadership Done Right Podcast, Episode 6 – How to Develop Confidence and Influence.

How to Develop Confidence and Influence

This is one of my favorite quotes from Marianne Williamson and then later used by Nelson Mendela.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

What is confidence?

Confidence is not arrogance. Confidence is belief in oneself and one’s powers or abilities; self-confidence; it’s self-reliance; it’s assurance. When someone has confidence, they know that they can do what it takes to be successful themselves and they can help others to be successful. 3 Traits of Emotional Intelligence in Great Leaders

This is a guest post by Sandy Robert. She is the author of this blog post who has worked with multiple consultancy firms providing leadership training across the world. Her posts on custom paper writing are widely popular and appreciated.

3 Traits of Emotional Intelligence in Great Leaders

When you picture an image of a great aspiring leader, who makes you feel absolutely stunned, gives you the persona which is so strong that it is undeniable and has the qualities which can shape up not only you and your community, but the entire nation and circumstances around you.

You also think that such a leader will be so perfect and balanced that emotions like anger, depression and panic will have no control over him; he will not be a materialistic freak and is someone who lives for others and sets an example of compassion or gratitude. If this is the picture you imagine to be of a true leader, then one thing is common in all his traits and that is an extremely high value of emotional intelligence.

What is emotional intelligence?

For a large part of this new century, the concept of emotional intelligence was not very popular or discovered by many people. Slowly it became an entire science, where millions of dollars are invested upon to fund research and effective training programs, that can help develop strong emotional intelligence. So what exactly is this new concept, which has suddenly become so important for a leader who is aspiring and inspirational? [Read more…] about 3 Traits of Emotional Intelligence in Great Leaders

Why Leaders Should Write Specialty Blogs

The Impact Of Specialty Blogs

Have you heard about the impact of specialty blogs? Did you hear the story about the stay-at-home mom that became a millionaire? How did she do it? She did it by creating a specialty blog. She and her husband were struggling to make ends meet, so she started to blog about her situation. The purpose of her blog was to show everyone what she and her family were going through and how they were trying to save money, be more frugal, and overcome their situation.

As she wrote, she gained more and more followers. She gained credibility as a money saving expert as she saved money and became financially stable. Once she gained her expert status, major television networks had her to speak on their shows to teach people how to overcome their financial instability. They paid her big money for the speaking arrangements. From there, she started her own in-home business that focused on helping people gain financial stability.

Why Leaders Should Write Specialty Blogs

I learned about this story through reading the book ME 2.0 by Dan Schawbel.  Many people write specialty blogs and each person has the ability to start their own specialty blog. If you start a specialty blog and post regularly, you will gain a following and could be the next millionaire!

The Nitty Gritty Of Specialty Blogs

Okay, okay, I am not going to promise you any financial gain, but there are many benefits that come from specialty blogs. Just for starters, the list below has four benefits of specialty blogs. Starting your own specialty blog will help you do the following:

How To Choose Not To Be Offended by Jeremy Statton

Has anyone ever offended you?

Reasons to find offense surround us. Bosses. Employees. Presidential candidates. Religions. Kentucky Wildcat fans.

Offense seems to be an obligation. A natural response to someone else. When we see things that we do not like, we feel we have no choice but to become upset. And express it adamantly.

We view our response as outside of our hands. We are only reacting to others.

Brandon’s Thoughts
When you choose to be offended you must understand that it is a choice within your control.  No one can force you to be offended.  As leaders, you should grow tough skin and be willing to take criticism.  If you get offended every time you receive criticism, you are not cut out for leadership.  Leaders must take criticism as an opportunity to learn from past experiences.
