Hi friends! I hope you are doing well wherever you are listening to this episode! It is fun to see the fall colors coming out and feel the brisk air.

Whether you are a new or experienced leader, leadership credibility is essential. You may be asking, “What is leadership credibility?” It is the ability of a leader to gain the trust and confidence of others. Some people say that when you have leadership credibility, others believe in you and your ability to get things done. When you gain this credibility, those you lead will follow you to the ends of the earth. They will trust you, your decisions and your ability to lead them.

As important as it is though, it is not easy to gain. Leaders constantly face the challenge of gaining leadership credibility from their followers. Additionally, their followers try to test them because they want to know if their leaders are really qualified to be the leader. They also want to be sure that the leader knows what they are talking about.

5 Core Values to Build Leadership Credibility

So how can we gain this high level of leadership credibility? Leadership credibility is not something that can be gained over night. It is developed by consistent ethical and moral behavior, but let’s turn that into something practical.

Here’s four core values leaders can develop to build leadership credibility with their followers.

1. Integrity

What does that mean? Leaders must be honest with their followers. If you tell lies, you will immediately lose the trust of those you are trying to lead. They will discredit what you say in the future and won’t believe you. They will also have a very hard time following you. Hi friends! In this week’s episode, I am going to share five tips for new leaders. These tips will help you start off on the right foot so you can gain the respect of those you lead. Before we get to that, I want to share some quick tips for the week.

Tip of the Week

Every year around this time, I start thinking about education. My kids are going back to school and I can feel fall coming on. I love the feeling and I love thinking about education. I also love thinking about and setting new goals. With those two thoughts in mind, I set goals for education for the upcoming school year. 

If you have not completed all of your educational goals, now is the best time ever to start those goals back up. Look into opportunities to progress your education. There’s many ways you can do that. I have other posts and podcast episodes that focus more specifically on education, so I won’t go into much more detail now. Here’s just a few ways you can advance your educational goals. Go to school, get into a certification program, take an online course, or look into other programs to advance your education.

5 Pieces of Advice for New Leaders

New leaders go through a wide range of emotions. There’s excitement about the new opportunities, anxiety about making a mark, and confidence in the skills that brought them to where they are. With all this excitement, they also often lack knowledge and experience. There’s nothing wrong with that. The way to overcome those feelings is to seek advice. Along those lines, I was recently asked, “What is your advice for new leaders?”

Several years ago, I traveled with my family to visit friends of ours. We spent the weekend with them and had a lot of time to visit. 10 Reasons Why Leaders Fail

Alright, now we’ll discuss the 10 Reasons Why Leaders Fail. I really like learning why others failed, so I don’t have to make the same mistakes myself. So let’s consider these 10 reasons with that mindset. Unlike last week, these are not in any particular order.

1. Poor Leadership Approach

Number one, leaders fail when they have a poor leadership approach. This can be manifest in many ways.

One way is that leaders sometimes use fear tactics. They try to coerce people through intimidation, manipulation, or overbearance. The whole point being to scare people into doing what they want.

Another poor leadership approach is to become a leader strictly to gain power over others. If you are leading just for power, you are probably not leading the right way.

And one final poor leadership approach is to lead with no confidence, rudeness, insincerity, or just flat out in a way that you show everyone you don’t know what you are doing. 4 Reasons Why Humility Is A Leadership Strength

Hi, and welcome to the Leadership Done Right YouTube channel. One leadership quality that has become less and less popular is humility. People feel like in order to compete in the business world they have to be strong, competitive, and anything but humble. Humility is looked at, in many cases, as a weakness. I believe, however, that humility is a leadership strength.

I would like to suggest four reasons why humility is a leadership strength and not a weakness.

1. Humility is NOT Insecurity

Insecurity happens when you are not secure in yourself or your beliefs. You lack an understanding of your purpose or value. When you are humble, however, you are not insecure. You understand yourself, your beliefs, and the unique value you provide.

2. Understand Your Limitations

Every leader has limitations. When you are humble, you know what you can and can’t do. You also know that each person brings their own unique value to the table. When you are humble, you treat people with respect and dignity. Because you are humble and treat people with respect, you are able to get their support when needed.
