There are certain mortal moments and minutes that matter – certain hinge points in the history of each human. Some seconds are so decisive they shrink the soul, while other seconds are spent so as to stretch the soul.
~Neal A. Maxwell
I really like this quote because it really helps to keep things in perspective and consider the big picture when making decisions. There are certain moments in life that are turning points in life.
When you are making decisions in the important moments of life, keep the long lasting impact in mind. If you succeed in those moments, the rest of your life will be improved. If you fail in that moment, however, it can have a long lasting negative impact on your life.
In order to keep the long-term impact in mind when making decisions, here are some important questions to consider.
Are you making decisions that will have a positive impact?
As a leader, you have a great impact on the lives of others. When you make your decisions, think about the big picture. Identify what decisions will help others to be better and live a better life. As you make good decisions that positively affects the lives of others, you will have more positivity come into your life. Good things come to those that do good. Are you making decisions that help others to have better lives?
Are you making decisions that hurt others?
Just as you can make decisions that will positively impact others, you can make decisions that hurt the lives of others. Some of those decisions are illegal while others are just mean. In addition to hurting others, making bad decisions also hurts you. When you do negative things, it will give you the desire to do more negative things.
