I follow many other leadership blogs on a regular basis and have my favorite leadership bloggers. As I read the posts, I learn a lot about how to be a better leader. The posts help me learn leadership techniques I can use to improve my skills and abilities. They also show me techniques that have worked, as well as, those that haven’t.
So you are probably asking yourself, “What bloggers do you follow regularly?” Because I follow too many bloggers to share on one post, I will just start with five in this post. I am not going to name them in any particular order.
Bret L. Simmons (PhD) – Positive Organizational Behavior
Bret’s About me page says, “I am passionate about leadership and management. My purpose is “to change your mind about the value of partnering with others to build healthy, responsible organizations where everyone can thrive.” I try to keep everything I do — training, speaking, teaching, research — consistent with my purpose.”
Bret does a great job showing how leadership principles taught in the classroom apply to real life. He regularly explains how leaders can and should do a better job to make their organizations more effective. He also spends a lot of time focusing on everyday interactions that have a significant impact on the level of customer satisfaction. As he addresses them, he points out the good things that have happened as well as the bad things. From there, he analyzes what they did right and what they did wrong.
Wally Bock – Three Star Leadership
Wally has a quote that says, “If you are a boss at any level, this blog will give you insight, information, and pointers to resources to do a better job and live a better life.” I have found Wally’s blog to be very insightful on many topics. On a weekly basis he highlights great leadership blog posts, gives “Boss’s tips for the day”, shares posts from other bloggers regularly, and overall helps people to be better leaders through his posts.
He posts several times a week and has been posting for several years. Overall, Wally provides a lot of insight on leadership and effective techniques that every leader should implement into their leadership style.
Mary Jo Asmus – Aspire Collaborative Services
Mary Jo is a former executive in a Fortune 100 company. She owns and operates a leadership solutions firm called Aspire Collaborative Services where they partner with great leaders to help them become even greater at developing, improving, and sustaining relationships with the people who are essential to their success. Her blog is for leaders and those who help them to be more intentional about relationships at work.
Mary Jo focuses on how leaders can develop great relationships with those they lead. The relationships they create lead to the success of the organization. One post she writes on a weekly basis is the “Thoughtful Thursday” post where she talks about thought-provoking quotes that really make you think about how you lead.
Lisa Petrilli – C-Level Strategies
Lisa Petrilli is Chief Executive Officer of C-Level Strategies, Inc., Chief Operating and Marketing Officer for the To Be a Woman Global Platform, Chief Relationship Officer for CEO Connection, Author of the eBook “The Introvert’s Guide to Success in Business and Leadership” , Harvard Business Review blogger, featured in the 10th Anniversary Edition of The Power of Focus
by Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen and Les Hewitt, and Co-Founder and Co-Host of Leadership Chat on Twitter.
She is passionate about visionary leadership. Lisa empowers C-suite executives and emerging leaders to create clear, compelling, inspiring visions for their companies and teams in order to transform them and grow them exponentially.
Lisa focuses on how to lead people. She focuses on how people need to be treated as a valuable resource that cannot be taken for granted. In line with her book, she also focuses a lot on how to lead as an introvert and how to lead introverts.
Dan McCarthy – Great Leadership
Dan is the Director of Executive Development Programs (EDP) at the Whittemore School of Business and Economics. He is responsible for all administrative, fiscal, operational, and policy matters associated with the development, delivery, and marketing of Executive Development Programs at the Whittemore School.
Prior to joining The Whittemore School in February of 2011, Dan was responsible for all aspects of supervisory, management and executive development, including succession planning at Paychex, Inc. Paychex was consistently named as a Fortune Magazine “Great Place to Work” a ‘Training Magazine top 125” training organization, and a Bersin “High Impact Learning Organization”.
With his extensive background in leadership, Dan writes great posts about leadership and how to lead effectively. He also writes about how strategic leadership will help your organization be more successful in a competitive business environment.
Summary
Each of the bloggers I mentioned has extensive experience in leadership. They all have helped me to gain a greater understanding of effective leadership techniques. I have learned a lot from their posts. One great aspect of each of these bloggers is that they all have a consistent track record of regular posting. They have each posted for many years and they will probably continue to post regularly into the future.
