Get to Know Mary Jo
Our guest today has a background that includes 25 years of global senior leadership/executive experience at a Fortune 100 company, leading initiatives in organizational strategies and systems, communication, and processes in diverse business areas such as human resources; research and development; organizational development; and global strategy and process.
Executive Coaching
For sixteen years, she has been a facilitator, speaker, coaching skills trainer, coaching supervisor and seasoned executive coach. She has coached hundreds of individuals to get ready for their next level of leadership particularly in the arenas of influence, impact, communication, relationships, and executive presence.
Our guest has worked with senior executives from the Director to “C” level, including CEO’s. Her clientele is often very public in an organization, community, or region and/or is high potential to move into the C suite or are in the C suite. She is also a trusted consultant to internal teams designing their coaching programs and to groups and teams who want to increase their effectiveness.
She has attained the distinction of passing rigorous standards and testing at the Professional Certified Coach level through the ICF and is a pioneer in championing Coaching Supervisors in the United States.

Our guest authors one of the world’s most popular independent blogs on leadership, in which she highlights the “inner game” of leading. It has been required reading for MBA and leadership courses on organizational effectiveness. She has authored several articles for other publications, most recently a piece called “Two Voices on: The Words of Leaders” in the book “Leadership Caffeine: Ideas to Energize Your Professional Development” by Art Petty.

- Who is the one leader you look up to most and why? My Grandmother. She was my rock and a great leader in my life. She earned her masters degree.
- What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? Don’t sweat the small stuff.

If you could go back in time and give yourself advice when you first started your leadership journey, what would it be and why? Be persistent. Often it is hard to keep moving forward in the face of resistance but often others thinking I would fail drove me to succeed.
