Hello and Happy New Year! I hope each of you are having a great start to 2019! 2018 want to wish each of you a very happy New Year! 2018 is going to be the best year yet!

With the new year upon us, now is the best time to set and/or refresh your goals, but regardless of when you listen to this episode it is always a good time to set and work towards completing your goals.

In last week’s episode, I talked about setting goals using SMART goals. I also talked about creating a plan and 5 Keys to creating an effective plan. In this episode, I am going to discuss 10 reasons why people fail to complete their goals and 5 steps to ensure your goals are successful.

10 Reasons People Fail To Complete their Goals

Have you ever been discouraged when working on a goal? Have you ever failed to complete a goal? Or, have you started working on a goal and lost your way? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you are not alone. Many people lose their way on goals. In fact, here’s10 reasons why people fail to complete their goals.

1. Not a Strong Enough Why

People fail to complete their goals when they don’t have a strong enough WHY. When you set a goal, it must have a strong motivating WHY. Too often people set a goal because it sounds cool or fun, but they don’t have a reason why it is important. Michael Hyatt often says, “When you lose your WHY, you lose your way!” It is very easy for a goal to fall apart or be forgotten when you forget your WHY.

The WHY must be strong enough to motivate you through good times and bad. And, when you are busy and times are challenging. If the WHY will not keep you motivated, then don’t set the goal. Without a strong WHY, the goal will likely fail, which will lead to frustration and discouragement.

Hi Friends! Leadership is not easy and there is a lot you can be afraid of! In this episode, I am going to talk about some of the fears we can have in leadership and how we can have courage to overcome them.

Fears As a Leader

It seems like most, if not all, people have something they really fear. Fears can be very real at times. They can cause people to freeze up and even tremble. Other times, fear keeps people from moving forward towards their goals.

As a leader, it can be easy to let fear get a hold of you. There are many things to fear as a leader. Some of those fears may include:

  1. Fear of rejection
  2. Fear of inadequacy
  3. Fear of the unknown
  4. Fear of underperformance
  5. Fear of lack of control

It is much easier said than done, but when you are the leader, you cannot let fear take control of you. If you let fear have a hold on you, you will become an ineffective leader. When you let fear take a hold of you, you are giving it control over you. Fear can be debilitating if you let it be. [Read more…] about Podcast Episode 71 — Have Courage To Be The Leader!

1. Know Your Self-worth

When you realize your own self-worth, the sky becomes the limit to what you can do. Marianne Williamson made a powerful statement about self-worth. She said:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?” Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. Do You Want To Pick Up Something New?

Oftentimes people don’t want to pick up something new because it takes them out of their comfort zone. Once they understand why it is important to pick up something new and how to do it, they still might resist. They fear thingsthat they have not done before even when it appears and is easier than current practices. Once a person learns how to do something, they want to continue doing it that way and not change because it is comfortable.

Do You Want To Pick Up Something New?

Change Brings Fear

Change causes real fear for some people. It gives people ulcers, causes great anxiety, wakes people in the middle of the night, causes sleep apnea, and even causes people to get sick. There is actually a condition call metathesiophobia that is the fear of change. To people that take change with ease, this sounds crazy. However, it is a real condition that exists. People don’t like uncertainty in their life. They like to be in control of their life. This intense fear makes people want to do the same thing all the time with limited variation.
