1.  Length
When it comes to length, quality is far more important than quantity.  However, it takes a minimum number of words to make a point.  With that in mind, the guest post needs to be between 300 and 800 words.

Be The Confident Leader

Several years ago, I had a confident leader that was very successful and very smart.  He had done very well in business and was well respected.  Because of his success he was wealthy and had every right to be arrogant, but he was not.  He was what I call the confident leader.  As a confident leader, he was very aware of his own strengths and weaknesses.  He also knew what was in his control and what was not.  There is a big difference between the confident leader and the arrogant leader.

Why Complacency And Leadership Don’t Mix

Several years ago, I had a great leader, G. Lawrence “Larry” Spackman, that taught me a valuable lesson about complacency.  He was very successful in everything he did and attributed his success to his strong drive and unrelenting desire to never back down when obtaining his goals.

When I was around Larry, he always stressed the importance of working hard and doing your very best.  In addition to teaching correct principles, he lived what he taught.  Because he was so driven, he despised complacency.  He taught that complacency would keep you from reaching your dreams and goals.  Larry taught me to avoid complacency at all cost.  His example confirmed the validity of what he told me.

Have you ever heard of personality type indicator tests?  Several years ago, I worked for a company that took a unique approach to training their employees.  They had an extensive human relations training program for all company management.  After working for the company for a few months, I attended a series of classes to learn and understand personality type indicator tests.  I attended two classes that were dedicated to the “True Colors” and Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality type indicator tests.

What is a personality type indicator test?

A personality type indicator test is a questionnaire or other standardized instrument designed to reveal aspects of an individual’s character or psychological makeup. The first personality type indicator tests were developed in the early 20th century and were intended to ease the process of personnel selection, particularly in the armed forces. Since the early efforts of these tests, a wide variety of personality type indicator tests have been developed, notably the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), the MMPI, and a number of tests based on the Five Factor Model of personality. Today, personality type indicator tests are used in a range of contexts, including individual and relationship counseling, career planning, and employee selection and development. (Wikipedia.org)

The purpose of personality type indicator tests is to explain the thought and action process of people with different backgrounds or genetic makeups.  The tests usually categorize people.  Some of the categories include: introvert vs extravert, leader vs follower, peacemaker vs aggressor, etc.  These tests are designed to help leaders know how to work successfully with people of all different backgrounds. The Power Of Choices

Do you understand the power of choices?  Everyday brings new choices and challenges.  You have to choose what to eat, what to wear, how to spend your time, what projects to work on, where you spend your money, who you spend your time with, etc.  We have to make many choices everyday.  Some of the choices are hard and others are easy.  As a leader, it is important to make good choices.  In this post I will share three important aspects of choices for you to consider to help you understand the power of choices.

Your power of choices as the leader

The power of choices is very evident as a leader.  You make choices all the time that almost always effect someone else.  Many times your choices have a major impact on those you lead.  In addition, the choices you make, as a leader, directly effect the behavior of your followers.  You set the example.  As you make good choices, there is a good chance those you lead will follow suit and make good choices as well.  At the same time, when you make bad choices you send a message to your followers that bad choices are okay.  (Have you seen the companies in the news with multiple people making bad choices?)

Do you understand the power of choices?

Ultimately, you have the power of choices and with that, you can choose between three types of choices.

  1. Good Choices.  There are many choices that are good.  Many of the good choices will help you move in the right direction in your life.  They allow you to do good things that will help yourself  and others.
  2. Better Choices.  However, even though there are many good choices, there are also better choices.  The better choices come in disguise because they are a little harder to see right off the bat.  The better choices help you reach your goals a little faster than the good choices.  They help you to move in a right direction but at a quicker pace than the good choices.
  3. Best Choices.  In addition to the good and better choices, there are also the best choices.  The best choices help you reach your goals the quickest.  They can be looked at as the top level choices.  As leaders, you should always seek the best choices.
