The Good And Effective Leader

By Brandon W. Jones on June 23, 2014 0

This is a guest post by Elena Erin. Elena is a professional blog writer, and loves to share his ideas related to leadership, management, and employees. She is currently associated with Essay Yard. His write-ups intend to facilitate people with a deep insight regarding massive resources and concepts available to make good leadership styles.

Five Effective Leadership StylesA good and effective leader must always decode its entire internal and external environment. It gives each team member the opportunity to share. It addresses the individual needs of each team member and the needs of the team as a whole. The leader considers the resources and energy available. It also assists his team to set and attain common goals. They must also understand that each person has different motivations in different situations.

A leader promotes the possible participation and lets everybody to flourish and benefit from teamwork.

Decision Making with Accountability

One of the main activities of the leader is to promote interactive and meaningful participation often through teamwork. The leader looks at the future easily and transmits its vision to accomplish goals. He knows how to motivate; guide and support his team members through effective strategies, although difficulties or obstacles arise.

Being a good leader does not activate, mobilise or organise people by force. It is rather to count on its capability of persuading elements that are rational and emotional as well. The necessary decisions are taken by a leader and then implemented after consulting his team. More team members can participate in the process of decision making, the more they will be motivated. This will also develop a healthy climate, foster a sense of unity and make better decisions. [Read more…] about The Good And Effective Leader

Hard WorkThere is nothing comparable to hard work when it comes to achieving success. It’s like success and hard work go well together. So if ever you’d like something in order to succeed in life, you can simply work hard. With this, you could certainly achieve your goal. However, please don’t forget that even if you would like to become successful when you work hard, it doesn’t mean that you feel successful instantly. There are times when the road to success is pretty long and hard which tests your desire and eagerness to push through.

When you work hard, you need to have the proper drive. Often times, people endure the problems of working hard based on their strong mental and physical motivation to get the job done. It takes strong mental toughness to endure that challenges that come before success. Your motivation must not be self-centered. If you only think of yourself, it will surely not be sufficient; you will definitely be unsuccessful in your effort and strength. Your motivation needs to be for the betterment of others like your friends, family, relatives and community. A lot of people fail to realize that it is better to draw strength from others than just think of your own personal success. [Read more…] about Beware of Hard Work, It May Bring Success

5 Methods To Motivate Employees

By Brandon W. Jones on May 30, 2014 4

This is a guest post by Sarah Brooks from best people search. She is a Houston, TX based freelance writer and blogger. Questions and comments can be sent to brooks.sarah23@gmail.com.

Maximizing employee engagement and productivity has direct impacts on bottom line profitability, so motivating employees is a primary concern for business leaders. Effective managers keep their staff on-point by reward their achievements with competitive wages, but there are more ways to motivate employees than just traditional cash incentives.

5 Ways a Leader Motivates Employees

Understanding what motivates staffers to excel at their jobs gives business leaders the tools they need to maximize efficiency, productivity and employee satisfaction. And it isn’t always money. While each leader maintains his or her unique style, many successful managers use some of the same strategies to stimulate peak performance among employees. In addition to traditional incentives, effective leaders gain respect and confidence from their staff members, using these proven approaches.

Communicate Effectively

Ambiguity undermines efficiency and high productivity, so competent management takes great care to spread organizational messages and job responsibilities clearly. But perhaps more important than issuing clear directives, is a leader’s ability to listen to feedback and other employee concerns.

Employee’s like to be heard; especially when they have ideas for improving systems and processes on the job. In many cases, tuning-in to employees’ problems and concerns creates a win-win situation, in which employees benefit from better workflow and employers gain higher levels of productivity. On the other hand, failing to recognize and respect employee contributions has the opposite impact, prompting them to “put in their time” rather than moving corporate objectives forward with innovation and creativity. Leadership Strategies to Enhance Employee Productivity

By Brandon W. Jones on May 26, 2014 5

This is a guest post by Dora Houston. I am also providing aid to students on career possibilities and other academic success related topics. Besides, I enjoy writing about current trends and innovations in education, technology, motivation and traveling.

The questions that linger in my mind are, “Are all managers’ leaders?” and “Are all leaders Managers?” Managers deal with the planning, organizing, directing, hiring and coordination of activities in an organization. A leader on the other hand is one with a vision which is communicated to followers and will positively influence. The use of targets so as to achieve a specific goal or goals is it a motivating factor. Mostly managers will use targets but a leader will positively energize and motivate the followers so that they can meet the specific goal. When motivation is pegged to targets its intimidating which means then those employees will deliver for the fear of repercussion. On the other hand, a leader will increase productivity by motivating followers with a vision that relates to their own success making followers want to freely work towards the vision.

productivity

Where there is a leader, there are followers meaning that followers tend to observe what their leader does and emulate. Managers tend to use their title to get things done but a leader needs to be at the forefront and be hands on. This reminds me of a day I was in queuing in the banking hall to get my debit card renewed and there is a power glitch in the specific building. This resulted to some tension within the bank because it caused some delay which we could not understand. At that point, the bank manager came to where customers were queuing and started explaining the issue as well as trying to solve problems that may not necessarily require the use of the system. That’s my point; a leader must show the followers how to deal with issues and other challenges that come up time and time again. The follower feels the need to take up responsibility as the leader is doing. If the manager lacked leadership skills he would have been at the employees asking why this and that is not being done which forces employees to accomplish the task under duress which will result to less productivity. Leadership Skills – How Millennials Can Become The Next BIG FISH

As a respected employee of Dissertation Arena and an aspiring freelance writer, Stewart Agron loves to indulge in ed-tech topics and share her insights with her precious readers. When not at her desk, she spends her time reading and admiring the works of famous fiction writers.

It is perhaps better to become a leader instead of a follower (member) because when you are a leader, you get to run things the way you want. Everyone in this world is born with some leadership skills. The only way you can flourish those skills when you seek them within. If you are a follower now, it is not necessary that you will remain a follower forever. Definitely, you can be a leader someday if you just believe in yourself and polish your leadership skills.

Leadership Skills – How Millennials Can Become The Next BIG FISH

The current digital age is the era of entrepreneurship. In this era, the “generation y” prefers to set up their own business and run the game using their own innovative ideas instead of working as an employee for someone else. No doubt that one must possess innovative mind to set up a profitable business, yet it’s not possible without having good leadership skills. Slow Down and Lose or Speed Up and Win, You Choose

By Brandon W. Jones on March 25, 2014 1

Slow Down and Lose or Speed Up and Win, You Choose

Change is happening at a faster pace now than it ever has in the past. There are new technological advances everyday. There are also new studies everyday that teach us how to be more productive and do things more effectively. With all the advances, people have the choice to either slow down and lose or speed up and win.

Why do people slow down?

With the ever-increasing pace of change, some people fail to keep up. So what do they do? They just slow down. They decide that since they can’t keep up, they might as well slow down. Does this approach make sense?

Slow Down and Lose or Speed Up and Win, You ChooseWhen people slow down for change, there are many negative side effects. Three of those side effects are:

1. Slow Down = Get Further Behind

Rather than pick up the speed to keep up with change, people slow down so they can take everything in to handle it. As a result, they get more behind, and change becomes more difficult to manage. Additionally, they feel more frustration and anger. [Read more…] about Slow Down and Lose or Speed Up and Win, You Choose

Work the Same as Always, Only Harder Didn’t Work for Me

By Brandon W. Jones on March 19, 2014 0

When change happens, many people take the approach that rather than adapt to the new way of doing things, they will just work the same as always, only harder. This approach may work for a short time, but it is not a feasible long-term solution to adjusting to change. If you continue to work the same as always, only harder rather than adapt to change, you will only cause burnout, pain, frustration, and/or anger for yourself and those around you.

Work the same as always, only harder didn’t work for me

Some time back, I went through a change where I got a new boss. My new boss and I didn’t always see eye to eye on things. He wanted to change the way everything was done before he understood why it was done that way. I, on the other hand, tried to do everything I knew how to do, but at a faster pace than I had done it in the past. I worked the same as always, only harder.

Work the same as always, only harderIt didn’t take long for me to be very worn out. This approach didn’t help me to see more eye to eye with my new boss and it didn’t lead to my success. It just made me frustrated, annoyed, and angry at times because things didn’t go my way. [Read more…] about Work the Same as Always, Only Harder Didn’t Work for Me

A Stable and Certain Environment When Going Through Change?

By Brandon W. Jones on March 17, 2014 0

A Stable and Certain Environment When Going Through Change

Have you ever gone through an experience where change was happening around you and there was nothing you could do about it? Change may have happened so quickly that you couldn’t maintain a stable and certain environment from day to day. Experiences like these can be very difficult and try our patience until we learn to handle them with ease.A Stable and Certain Environment When Going Through Change

People’s Expectation

There are people that deal with change in stride and there are those that fight change as much as they can. There is a wide range of people that fall somewhere in between. When speaking of people and their expectations, I am referring to those who fight change on one level or another just for the sake of fighting it.

People like stability, consistency, and dependability in life. As a result, they expect a stable and certain environment in most if not all aspects of life. When change happens, they think the role of the leader is to maintain a perfectly stable and certain environment. When that doesn’t happen, they get upset, frustrated, and even angry at leadership. Extensive Job Specific Knowledge or Previous Leadership Experience?

By Brandon W. Jones on March 12, 2014 2

Lately, I have thought a lot about hiring new leaders.  What is more important:  someone with extensive job specific knowledge or someone with previous leadership experience?  When hiring a new person, the ideal situation would be to hire someone with both extensive job specific knowledge and previous leadership experience.  However, this is not always possible.  What do you do then?

Extensive Job Specific Knowledge or Previous Leadership Experience?

Well first let’s look at what characteristics the two types bring to the table.

Extensive Job Specific Knowledge

The person with extensive job specific knowledge knows the ins and outs of the existing working environment.  They know what has worked well in the past and what hasn’t.  They also know how to deal with people specific to the working environment.  All these aspects create a foundation from which they can lead.

Because this type of person only has job specific knowledge without the leadership experience, they also have some downsides.  They may struggle in making quick decisions regarding personnel.  They also may have limited knowledge of how to respond when faced with challenges.  Their inexperience as a leader can appear as a lack of confidence in their personal abilities which could show through to their employees.
