Make Your Workplace a Friendly Environment in 5 Easy Steps

This article is written by Anissa Lee, a girl with a photogenic personality. Professionally, she’s an academic consultant and writer. When not working, she spends her time doing photo shoots.

Make Your Workplace a Friendly Environment in 5 Easy Steps

If you want to attract skilled employees and keep them with you for a long time, you need to create an excellent environment for your employees. Offering an attractive salary will not suffice if you want to retain result-oriented employees and increase productivity. You need to give your employees an amazing and friendly environment to work at and you will be amazed by their devotion and productivity. Here are five easy steps that will help you achieve this goal:

1. Spend Time with Your Employees

A leader must not stay hidden. A leader must be there to lead the team and provide training every now and then. You must have a lot of load already, but as a leader it’s your responsibility to work closely with your employees. They should know that your door is always open for them and that you will always listen to them. If you want to complete your projects and achieve your goals, then you need to know the strengths and weaknesses of your employees, and you can achieve this only by staying closer and spending time with them. Powerful Techniques To Develop Soft Skills

Powerful Techniques To Develop Soft Skills

This is a guest post by Sharon Stuart. She is an executive at Dissertation Mall, a company that offers dissertation proposal help in the UK. She’s a multi-talented person having both passion and skills in fields like writing, designing and painting.

Traditionally, or more fairly to say, in the recent past years, soft skills were not given due importance in the job market, and all what employers focused on assessing were hard skills. However, with the passage of time, those perspectives have changed now.

Powerful Techniques To Develop Soft Skills

Soft skills are now given as much importance as the hard skills in the job market. Hence, you cannot pursue your employer to hire you only on hard skills alone. Whether you belong to the tech market or any other industry, you need to convince your employer that you have some competitive skills that give you an edge. The only thing that can give you that edge is soft skills, along with the hard skills.

Needless to say, soft skills are a necessity for fresh graduates because those are the skills that employers, nowadays, seek when searching for a potential candidate. Therefore, it is important for students to work on their soft skills right from their days in college so that they may land a lucrative job without any hassles. Being a Leader Abroad: How to Deal with Homesickness

By Brandon W. Jones on August 4, 2014 0

This is a guest post by Peter Collin. He has a PhD and served as an academic consultant to several universities. He is also a seasonal professional writer at 1click dissertation to help students in completing their academic assignments.

homesick

In a recent survey, nearly 85% students who study abroad experience homesickness. Although this is study was on students, it is also very common amongst leaders. Homesickness is argued to be a form of anxiety that occurs when the world feels less stable around you. Psychologists state that homesickness can arise due to a variety of reasons, such as cultural shock from living in the new environment, life without friends, family and the comforts of home, inadequate coping mechanism in the new country. Leaders who experience it, might notice an increase in depressed feelings, anxiety, obsessive thoughts and minor physical illnesses.

Nevertheless, in my opinion, homesickness can be identified through this scenario; “In depression, sufferers find both university and home awful, whereas in homesickness university can feel awful while home may be seen in rose-tinted hues.”

Most of the leaders would normally start by being mildly depressed and anxious several weeks before leaving home, in anticipation of the impending change. However, others will be fine initially, and then to everyone’s surprise they find themselves feeling homesick later, perhaps soon after the completion phase one of a major project, or even at the start of their second year. But ordinarily it is the first few days or weeks after arriving which are the most difficult. [Read more…] about Being a Leader Abroad: How to Deal with Homesickness

The Leaders Are Born But You Can Learn

There are still debates about if the great leaders are born or made. Some say that the leadership skills are something that’s in the blood, and if the person is not born a leader, no learning will help. Their opponents, however, state that the leadership is like a skill and it can be learned, as follows.

I agree with the second statement, and lots of leadership trainings and books on how to turn yourself into a leader also reaffirm it. But what the ‘leadership’ word means for us is plenty of skills and abilities, which, in my opinion, makes a successful leader. And, having formed these habits and ways to act, you can turn yourself into a good leader. So, what are these qualities?

  1. Confidence and high self-esteem. Probably, it’s the first point we mention when someone who is, in our opinion, a good leader. A leader cannot be imagined without faith in everything he does and belief in himself. [Read more…] about The Leaders Are Born But You Can Learn

Why Complacency And Leadership Don’t Mix

By Brandon W. Jones on March 29, 2013 6

Several years ago, I had a great leader, G. Lawrence “Larry” Spackman, that taught me a valuable lesson about complacency.  He was very successful in everything he did and attributed his success to his strong drive and unrelenting desire to never back down when obtaining his goals.

When I was around Larry, he always stressed the importance of working hard and doing your very best.  In addition to teaching correct principles, he lived what he taught.  Because he was so driven, he despised complacency.  He taught that complacency would keep you from reaching your dreams and goals.  Larry taught me to avoid complacency at all cost.  His example confirmed the validity of what he told me.

Complacency and Leadership

As a leader, don’t let yourself become satisfied with average performance.  Never give less than your best effort because if you do, you will give way to complacency.  Complacency is very destructive and has many negative side effects.  There are three major side effects that come with a complacent attitude. Have A Growth Plan In Place

By Brandon W. Jones on March 27, 2013 3

I took a flight from Reno, NV to Poenix, AZ in 2009 where I had the opportunity to sit next to a very smart guy.  I don’t remember his name, so I will just call him Brett.  Brett had a background in economics and was in the economics doctorate program at the University of Nevada – Reno.  As we talked, he brought up a very interesting question.  He said, “So every new business owner is always concerned about what they should do to avoid failure.  They are so concerned that their product remains relevant that they never ask themselves, ‘What will we do if everything goes really well?  How will we keep up with the demand if it is very high? What is my growth plan?'”  From there, we began talking about a variety of things that leaders can do to prepare a growth plan, so that they don’t fail due to the inability to grow.  Overall, the factors we discussed all dealt with having a growth plan in place.Have a Growth Plan in Place

Why have a growth plan

When you start your company, your growth plan will be a guide that you can follow as you expand.  It will explain how you will grow and what you will do as you grow. In your plan, you can identify geographical areas where you plan to expand, new markets you plan to enter, how you plan to expand your capital, plant, and human resources, and what market strategies you plan to use.  Within each industry there are low cost providers, high quality providers, and everything in between.  As you create this plan, write as much detail as you can so you have a clear image of what you plan to do.  [Read more…] about Have A Growth Plan In Place
